Key Formation

• Noun + ということだ

  彼が来るということだ (I heard that he will come)

• Verb(non-past) + ということだ

• と言われている (to iwarete iru) - (N3)
  - Both 'ということだ' and 'と言われている' are used to report information. 'ということだ' is used when the speaker personally heard or learned the information, while 'と言われている' is used when the information is widely known or said by someone else.
• と思われる (to omowareru) - (N3)
  - 'ということだ' and 'と思われる' are similar in that they both express reported information. However, 'ということだ' is used when the speaker heard or learned the information, while 'と思われる' is used when the speaker believes or thinks something based on the information.
