gyaku ni
Used to express a contrast or opposite situation. It is often translated as 'on the contrary' or 'in contrast'.
Verb + 逆に
頑張れば頑張るほど、逆に疲れてしまう。 (The more I push myself, the more tired I become, on the contrary.)
逆に + Verb/Noun
逆に言うと、今回は成功した。 (On the contrary, speaking of it, we succeeded this time.)
彼は弟とは逆に大学生の頃からアルバイトをしていた。
